AAV9 Virus VP1/2/3 capsid proteins VP1, VP2, and VP3 assemble into a non-enveloped icosahedral capsid that mediates cell entry and tissue tropism, notably efficient transduction of cardiac and central nervous system tissues. VP1 contains a phospholipase A2 domain critical for endosomal escape. AAV9 is widely used in gene therapy due to its broad tropism and ability to cross the blood-brain barrier.
