Store as concentrated solution. Centrifuge briefly prior to opening vial. For short-term storage (1-2 weeks), store at 4°C. For long-term storage, we recommend adding 50% glycerol, then aliquot and store at -20°C or below. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
The African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) structural protein p54, encoded by the E183L gene, is a crucial component of the virus's architecture, playing a significant role in its morphogenesis. This 25-kDa polypeptide is essential for the recruitment of envelope precursors to assembly sites, contributing to the formation of viral particles. It is highly antigenic and has been localized within the replication factories of infected cells, predominantly associated with membranes and immature virus particles. The protein p54 has been shown to interact with target cells, aiding in the virus's attachment and entry, alongside other viral proteins like p30. Attempts to inactivate the p54 gene have demonstrated its necessity for ASFV replication, underscoring its potential as a target for therapeutic interventions. Its structural and functional properties make p54 a focal point of study in the development of ASFV treatments and prevention strategies.
