Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.

Leafy encodes a nuclear, land plant-specific transcription factor that functions as a master regulator of floral meristem identity, promoting the transition from inflorescence to flower formation and coordinating multiple aspects of floral morphogenesis, including organ number, identity, and determinacy, in large part by activating key floral commitment and patterning programs such as APETALA1 and, in specific contexts, contributing to regulation of class B genes via cofactor interactions (e.g., with UFO at relevant promoters). The gene produces a protein with an N-terminal conserved self-association module that mediates homo-oligomerization (including a Sterile Alpha Motif-like domain implicated in multimerization) and a highly conserved C-terminal DNA-binding domain with a helix-turn-helix-like fold that binds semi-palindromic target elements as a dimer; together these domains shape genome-wide binding and transcriptional output. Beyond sequence-specific transcriptional control, LEAFY can exhibit pioneer transcription factor behavior by engaging nucleosome-occupied sites and facilitating local chromatin unlocking, supporting cell fate reprogramming toward floral identity.
