Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana (recombinant RPS4)
RPS4 is a small subunit ribosomal protein in plants that contributes to the structure and function of the chloroplast ribosome, supporting translation of plastid encoded proteins required for photosynthesis and chloroplast maintenance. It binds rRNA to stabilize the 30S subunit and participates in mRNA decoding and initiation, working with other ribosomal proteins and translation factors to ensure fidelity and efficiency. RPS4 abundance and activity adjust with chloroplast development, light conditions, and stress, coordinating protein synthesis with acclimation of photosystems and metabolism. Disruption of RPS4 impairs plastid translation, leading to defects in photosystem assembly, chlorosis, reduced growth, and heightened sensitivity to environmental challenges due to compromised chloroplast function.
