          SR-BI Antibody (PA1-16788) in ICC/IF

Immunocytochemistry analysis of SR-BI in HeLa cells. Samples were incubated with SR-BI polyclonal antibody (Product # PA1-16788) using a dilution of 2 µg/mL overnight at 4°C followed by anti-rabbit Dylight 488 (Green) at a dilution of 1:500. Cells were fixed and permeabilized for 10 minutes using -20°C MeOH. Alpha tubulin (DM1A) was used as a co-stain at a 1:1,000 dilution and detected with an anti-mouse Dylight 550 (Red) at a 1:500 dilution. Nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (Blue). Cells were imaged using a 40X objective. {{ $ctrl.currentElement.advancedVerification.fullName }} validation info. View more

          Target Information

High density lipoproteins (HDLs) play a critical role in cholesterol metabolism and their plasma concentrations are inversely correlated with risk for atherosclerosis. The SR-BI binds HDLs and mediates selective uptake of HDL cholesteryl ester. SR-BI binds HDL with high affinity, is expressed primarily in liver and nonplacental steroidgenic tissues, and mediates selective cholesterol uptake by a distinct mechanism. In mice, it seems that SR-BI plays a key role in determining the levels of plasma lipoprotein cholesterol and the accumulation of cholesterol stores in the adrenal gland.
