Learn how Thermo Scientific Amira Software is used in real research workflows across different imaging modalities.

Through practical case studies, three speakers will share how they approached image analysis challenges in segmentation, visualization, and quantitative analysis of complex 3D datasets.

You will learn:

  • How Amira Software is used across multiple life sciences imaging workflows, including light sheet microscopy, X-ray computed tomography, micro-CT, and other advanced imaging modalities
  • How Amira Software helps users address common image analysis challenges in segmentation, visualization, and quantitative analysis
  • How peer case studies can provide practical ideas for integrating Amira Software into your own research workflow

About the host

Dr. Rosa Pipitone, Marketing Content Specialist, Thermo Fisher Scientific

Rosa holds a master’s degree in biotechnology and a PhD in plant biology from the University of Neuchatel and ETH Zurich. With extensive experience in life sciences research, she now supports Thermo Scientific Amira and Avizo Software.

About the speakers

Dr. Liu Renjie, Research Scientist, Department of Emergency, Tianjin First Central Hospital, China

Liu graduated from Peking Union Medical College in 2025 and subsequently joined Tianjin First Central Hospital as a research scientist. Her doctoral research centered on microglial neuroimmune interactions, for which she employed Amira Software to establish a simple protocol for 3D pathological analysis of microglia in mice based on tissue clearing techniques.

Dr. Aikta Sharma, TResearch Fellow in Imaging Joint Biomechanics in Growth and Osteoarthritis (BioGrOA), University College London, UK

Aikta specializes in musculoskeletal imaging and biomechanics. She combines in situ mechanical testing, synchrotron X-ray tomography, and digital volume correlation to map tissue deformation and strain in bone and joints, revealing how altered load transfer contributes to osteoarthritis development and progression.

Dr. Andrew H. Lee, Faculty Advisor, Core Facility, Midwestern University, USA

Andrew earned his PhD in integrative biology from UC Berkeley in 2007. After postdoctoral teaching and research at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, he joined Midwestern University, Glendale, as an Assistant Professor of Anatomy in 2010 and was promoted to Professor in 2022.
