Western blot analysis of MUC6 in Lane 1: HCT116 whole cell lysate (40 µg), Lane 2: Aml-12 whole cell lysate (40 µg), Lane 3: HeLa whole cell lysate (40 µg), Lane 4: A2780 whole cell lysate (40 µg), Lane 5: the Fallopian tube tissue lysate of mouse (40 µg) Lane 6: HepG2 whole cell lysate (40 µg). Samples were incubated with MUC6 polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-75628) at a dilution of 1:500.

The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).

Mucins are high molecular eight glycoproteins with 80% carbohydrate contents and the remaining 20% is constituted by protein core. Gastric mucin is found in normal human gastrointestinal tract. Resurgence of gastric mucin reactivity during colonic carcinogenesis is due to re-expression of the peptide core of gastric (or fetal colonic) mucins.
