MA1-20010 detects streptavidin, without interfering with the biotin-binding reaction. This antibody does not cross-react with egg white avidin.
The MA1-20010 immunogen is streptavidin. The epitope recognized by MA1-20010 does not overlap with those detected by MA1-20011, MA1-20012, & MA1-20013.
Streptavidin is a tetrameric protein purified from Streptomyces avidinii that binds very tightly to the vitamin biotin with a Kd of ~ 10-14 mol/l. The high affinity recognition of biotin and biotinylated molecules has made streptavidin one of the most important components in diagnostics and laboratory kits.
