About the speaker:

Amelia is the director of the Nanoscale Research Facility (NRF) at the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida. She is also an Engineering faculty member with affiliations in the Materials Science and Engineering Department and the Environmental Engineering Sciences Department at the HWCOE.

Her professional career has focused on teaching and training on electron microscopy and microanalysis characterization techniques, research projects developing analytical methodologies, and administrative leadership positions managing multi-user characterization and nanofabrication instrumentation facilities. Amelia holds a BS in chemistry from the Universidad de Oriente, Cumaná-Venezuela, and a MS and PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida.

Amelia will discuss research projects and skills from her 35-year career and share her experience managing multi-user microscopy facilities and training new microscopists.
