Agrigenomic solutions designed to deliver accurate and actionable data when you need it most
Thermo Fisher Scientific is committed to providing instruments, reagents, and solutions for plant and animal genotyping applications: simple, scalable, and affordable next-generation solutions that will help drive remarkable agricultural innovations. These solutions enable producers to develop healthier, more efficient crops and livestock to help nourish the world's growing population.
Bringing genomics to cats and dogs
Agrigenomics is about more than wheat and cattle. Agriculture technically encompasses the breeding and maintenance of any species, for any reason, and so includes animals and plants grown for decoration or as pets. An emerging frontier in agrigenomics, then, is improving the breeding of dogs, cats, and other companion animals using modern scientific knowledge and next-generation sequencing (NGS) techniques.
New Applied Biosystems AgriSeq companion animal and livestock genotyping solutions
The need for highly consistent detection of informative genetic markers is critical for genetic trait detection. Targeted GBS methods, like AgriSeq, have the advantage over non-targeted GBS approaches that are highly susceptible to allele drop-outs and missing data. Using the AgriSeq workflow, hundreds to thousands of markers can be targeted simultaneously in a highly reproducible manner across diverse sample sets.
