Immunofluorescent staining of HeLa using Product # PA5-19666, anti-eIF4B antibody. The cells were fixed with PFA (4%) for 10 minutes, permabilised with BSA (1%), normal goat serum (10%) and glycine (0.3 M) in 0.1% T-BST for 20 minutes and exposed to the primary antibody at a concentration of 1 µg/mL for 1 hour at room temp. The eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4B (eIF4B) plays a critical role in recruiting the 40S ribosomal subunit to the mRNA. It functions in close association with eIF4F and eIF4A. It binds near the 5'-terminal cap of mRNA in the presence of eIF4F and ATP. It promotes the ATPase activity and the ATP-dependent RNA unwinding activity of both eIF4A and eIF4F.
