Choose Thermo Scientific™ SureSTART™ Total Recovery Glass Screw Top Microvials, Performance Level 3, when you need to maximize the injection volume for <2 mL samples. Available in clear and amber glass, this one-piece Total Recovery microvial has a very low residual volume due to a specially-shaped deep and narrow inner reservoir which collects the liquid in the base so that compatible autosamplers can collect all but 1-2 μL of sample while having a total sample volume of 1.2 mL and a residual volume of 1 μL. The outer dimensions for these vials are 12x32 mm. These Performance Level 3 vials are designed to protect your most valuable samples and deliver consistent, reproducible results for your most demanding analyses.

The SureSTART Performance Levels

SureSTART vials, caps, inserts, septa, and kits are available in three performance levels. Now you can choose the products that best suit your analytical, performance, or budget needs.

• Level 1: Everyday analysis
Chromatography approved
SureSTART Level 1 products are cost optimized, suitable for all instrument types, and quality tested to deliver the performance, sample security, and reproducibility you need for everyday analyses. They are an ideal solution for verifying compound presence and quantification using detection techniques such as UV, RI, and FID.

• Level 2: High-throughput analysis
When robustness and reproducibility are key
SureSTART Level 2 vials have very low metal contents and leachables to ensure that they conform to the high standards you need to meet your regulatory requirements. The septa are conditioned to provide a very low level of chromatographic extractables. These products support routine analyses and deliver high quality data with an uninterrupted workflow.

• Level 3: High performance
When sensitivity is a must
SureSTART Level 3 products are packed in a clean environment according to our own hygiene concept and regulations to protect against contaminating factors. The vials contain the lowest levels of extractable metals and leachables to ensure consistent, reproducible sensitivity and selectivity for the most challenging analytes. The septa are conditioned to provide the lowest level of chromatographic extractables. Choose these products for ultimate method performance and high levels of and sample security and integrity.

All SureSTART vials, closures, and septa are certified to meet physical parameter specifications as part of our manufacturing process.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

When would I need inert vials for my chromatography samples?

For analysis of compounds which show interactions with untreated glass surfaces, it may be necessary to use a deactivated glass vial. The effect of adsorption is most apparent when dealing with very low concentrations of the sample. It is likely that this effect will only be identified during calibration. Analytical results will show poor reproducibility and linearity for active samples while non-adsorbing species show good results.

Inert glass products can be found in Performance level 3, and include silanized glass and GOLD-grade technology deactivated glass.

What are SureSTART High Recovery vials?

These one-piece microvials have an internal conical reservoir which collects liquid in a 30 µL volume for extraction with a conventional autosampler from a total usable volume of 1.7 mL. The outer dimension for these vials is 12 x 32 mm.

What are SureSTART microvials?

Microvials are suitable for use when sample volume is limited or when you need to get maximum recovery from the vial. These vials allow small volumes to be sampled accurately by autosamplers with a recoverable volume of much less than 100 µL. High recovery, total recovery, and vials with fixed inserts are all classed as microvials.
