Pre-enrich food samples prior to the isolation of Salmonella species with Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Buffered Peptone Water ready-prepared bottled medium. Buffered Peptone Water is a non-selective pre-enrichment medium.

Low numbers and/or sub-lethally injured Salmonella cells may be present in a test food sample. Pre-enrichment in non-selective Buffered Peptone Water allows the cells time to repair and multiply before being introduced into selective culture, improving the chances of recovering Salmonella species from the sample.

  • Aids recovery of damaged Salmonella cells.

The test sample is added to Buffered Peptone Water at a ratio of 1:10 and incubated at 37° ± 1°C for 18 hours + 2 hours.
