Simplify transport and maintenance of fastidious, pathogenic organisms with Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Stuart Transport Medium. This improved medium was originally described by Moffett et al.1 and Stuart et al.2 and is a non-nutritional semi-solid substrate for the preservation of Neisseria species and other fastidious organisms during their transport from clinic to laboratory.

Although originally formulated for the conservation of Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Trichomonas vaginalis, the medium can also be used for the transport of other bacteriological specimens.

Preserve Neisseria species and other fastidious organisms during their transport from clinic to laboratory using Stuart Transport Medium.

  • Can be used for transport of swabs of clinical material containing upper respiratory tract and enteric pathogens as demonstrated by Cooper3.
  • Can be used for Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes and Corynebacterium diphtheriae as demonstrated by Stuart et al.2
  • Can be used in combination with polymyxin for the cultivation of Neisseria gonorrhoeae as demonstrated by Crookes and Stuart4.
