General Description

  • Cyclosporin A is a non-polar cyclic oligopeptide produced by the fungus Tolypocladium inflatum

Applications

  • It inhibits phosphoprotein phosphatase
  • Cyclosporin A binds to the cellular protein cytophilin and inhibits the enzyme calcineurin
  • Furthermore, it can induce apoptosis and inhibit angiogenesis induced by VEGF
  • It exerts potent immunosuppressive activity on T immune cells, and causes reversible inhibition of immunocompetent lymphocytes in the G0- and G1-phase of the cell cycle
