Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

If I use propidium iodide (PI) for measuring cell viability before extracting DNA to perform qPCR and sequencing, will the PI interfere with the qPCR and sequencing reaction?

We recommend removing propidium iodide (PI) prior to PCR and sequencing. PI can be removed from the DNA by ethanol precipitation or spin column-based DNA purification that includes an ethanol wash step.
