Description:
Factor 41 (group S)

Serologically identify somatic O antigens of Salmonella strains by slide agglutination test for epidemiological and diagnostic purposes using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Agglutinating Sera, Salmonella O. The sera are absorbed to remove agglutinins for other Salmonella antigens and the paracolon α agglutinin. Salmonella Somatic Agglutinating Sera (ZC series) are intended for the identification of O antigens.

Serological tests are based on the fact that antibodies in serum, produced in response to exposure to bacterial antigens, will agglutinate with bacteria carrying homologous antigens.

Serologically identify somatic O antigens of Salmonella strains by slide and/or tube agglutination tests for epidemiological and diagnostic purposes using Agglutinating Sera, Salmonella O.

  • Rapid: Results within 1 minute.
  • Simple, ready to use: Makes the procedure easy to implement and run

The genus Salmonella is classified in the Kauffmann-White Scheme into serotypes according to combinations of somatic (O) and flagellar (H) antigens, which are identified by agglutination tests1. Agglutinating sera should be used in confirmatory tests but may also be used with appropriate caution in screening tests2. These simple tests rapidly detect specific bacterial antigens for the identification, grouping and/or typing of Salmonella and other food-borne microorganisms. This incorporates agglutinating sera for the identification somatic O antigens of Salmonella (groups A-S), allowing the fast, accurate and reliable identification of Salmonella strains.
