Detect protozoan cysts and helminth eggs and larvae in wet mount preparations using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ D'Antoni's Iodine stain. This is a nonspecific, contrast dye, added to fresh, unpreserved fecal specimens to aid in detection of helminth eggs and larvae and in differentiating protozoan cysts from host white blood cells1,2.

The diagnosis of intestinal parasitic infections is confirmed by the identification of parasites in fecal specimens. D’Antoni’s Iodine stains the nuclei of protozoan cysts, making them more visible. Helminth eggs and larvae are recognizable in wet mounts, though iodine staining occasionally obscures the internal morphologic details.

  • Ready-to-use: Liquid reagent supplied in 25mL dropper bottles
  • Easy identification: Stains the nuclei of protozoan cysts, making them more visible.
  • Easy-to-store: Store at room temperature (20-25°C)

D’Antoni’s Iodine preparation contains 15g iodine and 10g potassium iodide dissolved in demineralized water. This preparation is ready to use and does not require further dilution.
