Achieve high visual contrast with Thermo Scientific™ ChromoSphere™-T Certified Size Standards, colored polymer microspheres with NIST™-traceable diameters. These reference and calibration materials are used in the testing of filtration systems, vial cleaning evaluations, contamination control studies and calibration of injection devices.

ChromoSphere-T Size Standards were developed for use as reference or calibration materials in applications where a high visual contrast is desired. The product line consists of a large assortment of uniform particle sizes between 50 and 500 microns in either red or black color.
  • Internally dyed with deeply colored red or black dyes, resulting in very high contrast and visibility relative to most background materials
  • Mean diameters traceable to the standard meter through the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
  • Calibrated by optical microscopy
  • Made from cross-linked polystyrene divinylbenzene (PS-DVB) copolymer
  • Available as dry powders
  • Easily dispersed in aqueous media with the aid of a small amount of surfactant or in lower alcohols, such as methanol or ethanol
  • Minimal dye extraction when particles are suspended in pure alcohols
Note:
  • Other organic solvents, such as ethers or chlorinated hydrocarbons, should be avoided because they will swell the particles and completely extract the dye.
