The Triglyceride (TG) Colormetric Assay Kit is a highly reliable and sensitive assay designed for the quantitative measurement of triglycerides in serum, plasma, and tissue samples. Triglycerides are a type of lipid molecule that play a crucial role in energy storage and metabolism. They are the main component of vegetable oil, animal fat, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL). Elevated levels of triglycerides in the blood have been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, glucose metabolism, insulin resistance, and Type 2 diabetes.
The assay utilizes the GPO-PAP method, which involves the hydrolysis of triglycerides to glycerol and fatty acids. Glycerol is then oxidized by glycerol kinase to glycerol-3-phosphate, which is oxidized by GPO and produces hydrogen peroxide. In the presence of 4-aminoantipyrine and phenol, hydrogen peroxide is catalyzed by peroxidase (POD) to produce colored quinones which can be measured at 510 nm to calculate the amount of TG in the sample.
