Optical Filter for Multiskan™ Ease

The Thermo Scientific™ filter accessories for the Multiskan™ Ease Absorbance Microplate Reader expand assay flexibility by enabling precise wavelength selection across a wide range of absorbance applications. Designed to integrate smoothly with the instrument's optical system, these durable hard-coated filters support both routine and advanced assays while maintaining high measurement accuracy and long-term reliability.

The Multiskan™ Ease utilizes an easy-to-install 8-position filter wheel, supplied with three pre-installed standard filters (405 nm, 450 nm, and 620 nm). Additional filter accessories allow users to customize wavelength configurations to meet specific assay requirements, from ELISA and protein quantification to enzyme kinetics and microbial growth analysis.

Optical Filter Wavelengths and Typical Applications

Standard (pre-installed on filter wheel):

• 405 nm – Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) ELISA with pNPP substrate; ABTS assays; enzyme kinetics; endotoxin (LAL) assays
• 450 nm – HRP/TMB-based ELISA (including Rapid and Instant ELISA formats)
• 620 nm – ELISA reference wavelength; alternative read for Bradford protein assays

Optional filters:

• 414 nm – Heme/hemoglobin assays, Soret band detection, selected oxidative and antioxidant capacity assays
• 492 nm – OPD-based ELISA, LDH cytotoxicity, MTS cell proliferation assays. Pierce™ Dilution-Free™ Rapid Gold BCA Protein Assay.
• 520 nm – Selected colorimetric cell proliferation and metabolic activity assays
• 540 nm – Nitric oxide (Griess) assays
• 570 nm – Primary wavelength for BCA protein quantification, MTT cell proliferation and crystal violet assays
• 600 nm – Bacterial growth (OD600), Bradford protein assay and turbidity measurements
• 660 nm – Pierce™ 660 nm protein assay
• 690 nm – Reference wavelength for ELISA and MTT assays
• 750 nm – Lowry protein assays; reference wavelength for protein assays and turbidity correction
