Yes, you can add up to 20% less crystals and still obtain acceptable staining.

Why are bands not visible on my gel after destaining when using the GelCode Blue Safe Protein Stain?

It is possible the GelCode Blue Safe Stain was not activated. When the activator crystals are added, the pH of the stain should be approximately 2. If the stain was not activated, add the crystals and restain the gel; however, if the stain was activated, try increasing the staining time.

What is the sensitivity of the GelCode Blue Safe Protein Stain?

The lower level of detection is 9 ng of protein per band.

How do I activate the GelCode Blue Safe Protein Stain?

Add the entire bottle contents of the Activator Crystals into the GelCode Blue Safe Protein Stain bottle. Dissolve the crystals by end-over-end mixing for 1 minute, and then allow it to remain at room temperature for 5 minutes before use.

What is the difference between the original GelCode Blue Stain and GelCode Blue Safe Protein Stain?

GelCode Blue Safe Protein Stain (Cat. No. 24594) was developed as a non-hazardous alternative to the original GelCode Blue Stain (Cat. No. 24590). The primary differences are that the GelCode Blue Safe Protein Stain must be activated before use, is non-corrosive, does not form colloids and is stable, safe to ship, use and store.
