Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
ABI5 is a protein-coding gene in Arabidopsis thaliana whose product localizes predominantly to the nucleus and functions as a basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factor in abscisic acid (ABA) signaling during seed maturation, germination, and early post-germinative growth. The locus produces multiple transcripts, and the canonical protein contains a C-terminal plant bZIP DNA-binding and dimerization module (basic region plus leucine zipper) that is required for sequence-specific binding to ABA-responsive promoter elements and for transcription factor dimer formation. Genetic and molecular studies show that loss-of-function abi5 alleles reduce sensitivity to ABA-mediated inhibition of germination and perturb expression of subsets of ABA-regulated genes, including late embryogenesis-abundant (LEA) stress-adaptation genes, consistent with ABI5 acting downstream of the core ABA pathway and integrating developmental and environmental cues to enforce a post-germination growth arrest/checkpoint under unfavorable conditions.
