Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Fragaria vesca, Oryza sativa, Phaseolus vulgaris, Solanum lycopersicum
ADH1, Alcohol Dehydrogenase 1, encodes a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the interconversion of acetaldehyde and ethanol using NADH or NAD plus as cofactors. It is strongly induced by low oxygen conditions such as flooding, enabling anaerobic fermentation to regenerate NAD plus for glycolysis and sustain ATP production when respiration is limited. ADH1 activity helps maintain cellular redox balance, supports survival of roots and seedlings under hypoxia or anoxia, and influences recovery after reoxygenation. Variation in ADH1 expression or activity affects tolerance to waterlogging, seed and pollen performance, and metabolite profiles in tissues undergoing stress or rapid growth. Because it is a classic marker of hypoxia responses and central to fermentative metabolism, ADH1 is widely used to study oxygen sensing and to improve flooding resilience in crops.
