ADP-ribosyltransferase catalyzes the ADP-ribosylation of arginine residues in proteins. The amino acid sequence of ART1 consists of predominantly hydrophobic N- and C-terminal regions, which is characteristic of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored proteins.
