Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Recombinant ATG8 A-I of Arabidopsis thaliana, Oryza sativa
ATG8A-I isoforms are plant autophagy related ubiquitin like proteins that tag membranes and cargo for formation and maturation of autophagosomes. After synthesis, each ATG8 isoform is processed by ATG4 to expose a C terminal glycine, then conjugated to phosphatidylethanolamine by the ATG7 ATG3 E1 E2 like system and the ATG12 ATG5 ATG16 complex, anchoring ATG8 to autophagic membranes. Different ATG8A I isoforms show selective binding to cargo receptors via AIM or LIR motifs and help mediate selective autophagy of organelles, protein aggregates, and signaling components during nutrient limitation, development, and stress. Their lipidation state serves as a marker of autophagic flux, and expression and activity are modulated by redox status, kinases, and hormone signaling. Perturbation of specific isoforms alters recycling efficiency, stress tolerance, and growth by reshaping degradation pathways and cellular homeostasis.
