The C2CD2 gene, located on chromosome 2, encodes a protein that contains two C2 domains and is involved in cellular signaling and membrane trafficking. The protein has been implicated in various cellular processes, including calcium-dependent phospholipid binding and vesicle transport. Recent studies have shown a critical role for C2CD2 in the regulation of immune responses and cell apoptosis. The protein also interacts with other cellular components to modulate pathways that are essential for cell survival and proliferation. Mutations or dysregulation of C2CD2 have been linked to certain diseases, such as cancers and autoimmune disorders, highlighting its potential as a biomarker and therapeutic target.
