Expression of CASK in rat hypothalamus - Immunohistochemical staining of rat hypothalamus free floating frozen sections using Anti-CASK Antibody (#AIP-018), (1:200). CASK staining (green) appears in fibers with varicosities (arrows) running from the ventromedial hypothalamus (VMH) along the base of the brain. Nuclei are stained using DAPI (blue).

Reconstitution: 25 µL, 50 µL or 0.2 mL double distilled water (DDW), depending on the sample size. The antibody ships as a lyophilized powder at room temperature. Upon arrival, it should be stored at -20C. The reconstituted solution can be stored at 4C for up to 1 week. For longer periods, small aliquots should be stored at -20C. Avoid multiple freezing and thawing. Centrifuge all antibody preparations before use (10000 x g 5 min).

CASK is a calcium/calmodulin-dependent serine protein kinase which is a MAGUK (membrane-associated guanylate kinase) protein family member. CASK is a scaffold protein and the encoded protein is located at synapses in the brain. CASK associates with FG syndrome 4, mental retardation, microcephaly with pontine and cerebellar hypoplasia, and a form of X-linked mental retardation. CASK functions as a cytoskeletal membrane scaffold that coordinates signal transduction pathways within the cortical cytoskeleton.
