Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Brassica napus, Oryza sativa
Catalase-2 (ctl-1) encodes a heme-dependent catalase that localizes predominantly to peroxisomes and is also reported to be active in mitochondria, consistent with roles in intracellular reactive oxygen species management. The encoded protein is a typical large-subunit catalase of approximately 490 amino acids, comprising an N-terminal catalase-like, haem-dependent catalytic domain and conserved residues required for heme binding and disproportionation of hydrogen peroxide; like other catalases, it is expected to assemble into a multimeric enzyme complex to achieve full activity. Functionally, Catalase-2 catalyzes the conversion of hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen, thereby supporting hydrogen peroxide catabolism and broader cellular oxidant detoxification pathways, and contributing to organismal responses to hydrogen peroxide and oxidative stress.
