DARPP-32 Antibody (PA5-17852) in WB
Western blot was performed using DARPP-32 Polyclonal Antibody (Product # PA5-17852) and a ~30 kDa band corresponding to PPP1R1B was observed in Mouse Brain and Rat Brain; and was absent in Mouse Ovary and Rat Ovary. Tissue extracts (30 µg lysate) of Mouse Brain (Lane 1), Mouse Ovary (Lane 2), Rat Brain (Lane 3) and Rat Ovary (Lane 4) were electrophoresed using NuPAGE® 4-12 % Bis-Tris gel (Product # NP0322BOX). DARPP-32 is a dopamine (DA) and AMP-regugated ~32 kDa phosphoprotein that is associated with dopaminoceptive neurons. The protein inhibits Protein Phosphatase I when it is phosphorylated on Thr34. In contrast, when DARPP-32 is phosphorylated on Thr75 the protein acts as an inhibitor of PKA. Phosphorylation of DARPP-32 is thought to play a critical role in the regugation of dopaminergic neurotransmission. In addition, the activity of DARPP-32 is also thought to play important roles in the actions of alcohol, caffeine and Prozac®.
