Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.

DegP7, also called protease Do like 7, is a chloroplast lumenal serine protease of the HtrA Deg family that participates in quality control and repair of photosystem II. It recognizes misfolded or damaged thylakoid proteins, especially after high light or heat stress, and cleaves them to enable removal and replacement during PSII repair cycles. DegP7 works with other Deg proteases and stromal and lumenal chaperones to maintain thylakoid protein homeostasis, limiting photoinhibition and sustaining electron transport efficiency. Its expression and activity increase under stress and during chloroplast development, and loss or altered function can slow PSII repair, elevate reactive oxygen species, and reduce photosynthetic performance and growth.
