Dengue virus is a mosquito-borne viral disease that affects millions of people worldwide. The virus has four distinct serotypes, and infection with one serotype provides lifelong immunity only to that serotype. Dengue virus Type 2/3 NS1 (nonstructural protein 1) is a gene target that is involved in the replication and assembly of the virus. The NS1 protein is a potential diagnostic marker for dengue virus infection, as it is secreted by infected cells into the bloodstream and can be detected in patient samples.
