Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 200 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
ELIP2 encodes a small, stress-inducible thylakoid-associated protein found in plants that is rapidly upregulated by sudden increases in light intensity and other environmental stresses (e.g., cold, drought). Belonging to the chlorophyll a/b-binding protein superfamily but typically binding few pigments and acting transiently, ELIP2 is thought to protect nascent or free chlorophylls and thylakoid membranes during acclimation, preventing photooxidative damage by buffering excess excitation and aiding safe pigment handling. ELIP2 accumulates during de-etiolation and high-light exposure, localizes to chloroplast membranes, and its expression is controlled by light-responsive transcriptional networks. Functional studies suggest ELIP2 contributes to photoprotection and recovery of photosystems by stabilizing pigments and possibly facilitating repair or reassembly of light-harvesting complexes. Altered ELIP2 expression affects tolerance to light stress and can influence the efficiency of acclimation to dynamic environments.
