Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Synechocystis PCC6803
FBA class 2 encodes a soluble, cytosolic class II fructose-1,6-bisphosphate aldolase that functions as a metal-dependent glycolytic/gluconeogenic enzyme. The protein is typically a ~350 aa enzyme that folds as an (alpha/beta)8 (TIM) barrel and assembles as a homodimer, with its catalytic center located at the C-terminal end of the barrel; catalysis requires a bound Zn2+ (and structural metal binding has also been described near the active site). Biochemically, class II FBA catalyzes the reversible aldol cleavage/condensation between fructose 1,6-bisphosphate and the triose phosphates dihydroxyacetone phosphate and glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate, thereby supporting central carbon flux in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis; in some bacteria it can also contribute to alternative sugar-phosphate bypass reactions involving sedoheptulose bisphosphates.
