Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
CFBP1 encodes a nuclear gene whose product is synthesized as a chloroplastic precursor bearing an N-terminal transit peptide that targets the enzyme to the chloroplast stroma, where the mature protein functions in photosynthetic carbon metabolism. The encoded enzyme is a fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (FBPase) that acts as a Mg2+-dependent phosphohydrolase, catalyzing dephosphorylation of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate to fructose-6-phosphate and thereby supporting Calvin-Benson cycle flux and carbohydrate production. Chloroplastic FBPase is subject to light-linked redox control, classically via thioredoxin-mediated reduction of a regulatory disulfide, coupling enzymatic activity to photosynthetic electron transport and stromal redox state. Genetic disruption of CFBP1 impairs photosynthesis and carbon partitioning, leading to reduced soluble sugars and starch accumulation and causing growth and developmental defects consistent with an essential role for the chloroplast FBPase step in sustaining plant productivity.
