Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, Chlorella sorokiniana, Synechococcus sp. PCC 6803
FNR encodes a leaf-type ferredoxin:NADP(H) oxidoreductase that is targeted to chloroplasts and is detected in multiple chloroplast subcompartments, including the stroma and thylakoid-associated pools (with isoform-dependent enrichment), where it can also participate in high-molecular-weight membrane complexes that promote thylakoid attachment. It produces a soluble flavoprotein that binds an FAD cofactor and adopts the canonical two-domain plant-type FNR fold: an N-terminal FAD-binding domain with a beta-barrel core and a C-terminal NADP(H)-binding domain with a central beta-sheet/alpha-helix architecture, forming an interdomain cleft that constitutes the catalytic site. Functionally, FNR catalyzes reversible electron transfer between one-electron carrier ferredoxin and the two-electron NADP(H) pool, providing the terminal reductase step of photosynthetic linear electron flow to generate NADPH for carbon assimilation and other reductive biosyntheses, while also supporting alternative electron-transfer routes (including cyclic electron transfer) depending on its localization and binding partners.
