Lyophilized antibody can be stored at -20°C for up to 3 years. Re-constituted antibody can be stored at 4°C for several days to weeks. Once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Francisella tularensis
In Francisella tularensis, intracellular growth locus C (iglC) encodes an approximately 23 kDa, soluble cytoplasmic protein that is produced from the Francisella Pathogenicity Island (FPI), a virulence-associated genomic island that specifies an atypical type VI secretion system (T6SS). Biochemical fractionation places IglC primarily with non-classical, water-insoluble/multiprotein fractions consistent with assembly into a larger macromolecular complex rather than as a canonical membrane protein, and structural studies show IglC adopts a compact beta-sandwich fold (solved at 1.65 A) with little similarity to previously characterized folds. Functionally, IglC is essential for intramacrophage survival and replication and is required for phagosome disruption and bacterial escape into the host cytoplasm; loss of iglC causes failure to avoid phagolysosomal fusion and marked attenuation of intracellular growth. Within the FPI-encoded T6SS, IglC is widely regarded as the Hcp-like tube component and is also required for T6SS-dependent secretion of multiple FPI proteins during intramacrophage infection, supporting a dual role as both a structural core element of the secretion apparatus and a key determinant of virulence-linked host cell trafficking outcomes.
