Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Higher plants, Pheodactylum tricornutum (diatom)
Fucose is a six carbon deoxy sugar found in plant cell wall polysaccharides and glycoproteins where it contributes to structure, signaling, and interactions with microbes. In plants, fucose is incorporated into xyloglucans and pectins, influencing cell wall mechanics, growth, and stress responses. It is added to glycans by fucosyltransferases using GDP fucose produced by de novo synthesis or salvage pathways, and defects in fucosylation alter morphology, vascular development, and pathogen resistance. Fucose bearing glycans can modulate hormone perception and receptor function and affect recognition by symbionts and pathogens. Metabolic and genetic regulation of fucose availability and transfer adjusts wall composition, adhesion, and defense, linking this sugar to development and environmental adaptation.
