Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
GID1C encodes a soluble gibberellin (GA) receptor that functions predominantly in the nucleus (with evidence that GID1 family receptors can also be detected in the cytosol) to couple GA perception to transcriptional reprogramming via DELLA protein removal. The GID1C protein is a single-polypeptide, alpha/beta-hydrolase fold member with sequence similarity to hormone-sensitive lipase/carboxylesterase-like proteins, retaining conserved hydrolase-family motifs (including HGG and GXSXG) but lacking key features required for canonical lipase catalysis, consistent with a ligand-binding/signaling role rather than enzymatic hydrolysis. Structurally, GA binding occurs in a deep pocket and induces conformational changes that promote high-specificity recognition of the N-terminal DELLA domain motifs of DELLA repressors, enabling formation of a GA-GID1-DELLA complex that triggers DELLA ubiquitination and proteasome-dependent degradation, thereby releasing repression of GA-responsive growth and developmental programs. Biologically, Arabidopsis GID1 receptors show partial redundancy, but GID1C contributes distinct, tissue-context functions; in reproductive development, GID1C expression is enriched in fruit valves and genetic analyses support roles in GA-dependent pod elongation/fruit growth through specific receptor-DELLA pairings in those tissues.
