Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Cyanthobasis fruticulosa, Lupinus albus, Oryza sativa, Petrosimonia nigdeensis, Pisum sativum, Salsola grandis, Salsola tragus
GOX usually refers to glycolate oxidase in plants, a peroxisomal enzyme of photorespiration that converts glycolate to glyoxylate while producing hydrogen peroxide. It works with chloroplast and mitochondrial steps to recycle 2 phosphoglycolate formed by Rubisco, thereby maintaining carbon balance and protecting photosynthesis under ambient oxygen. GOX activity influences redox status via hydrogen peroxide generation, requiring catalase and peroxidases for detoxification, and it helps coordinate signaling linked to stress and development. Multiple GOX isoforms can show tissue specific expression and kinetic differences, adjusting photorespiratory flux under varying light, CO2, and environmental conditions. Perturbation of GOX affects growth, chlorophyll content, and resilience, highlighting its central role in photorespiration and peroxisomal metabolism.
