Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Oryza sativa
Gamma carbonic anhydrases are plant mitochondrial enzymes that catalyze reversible hydration of carbon dioxide to bicarbonate, supporting respiratory electron transport and metabolic balance. They form part of the complex I carbonic anhydrase domain, helping assemble and stabilize the NADH dehydrogenase complex and facilitating proton and CO2 related microenvironment buffering. By contributing to complex I biogenesis and efficiency, gamma carbonic anhydrases influence energy production, redox homeostasis, and signaling between mitochondria and the rest of the cell. Plant genomes encode multiple gamma CA isoforms with tissue and stress responsive expression, and mutations can impair complex I assembly, alter respiration rates, and impact growth and stress tolerance. Their activity complements other carbonic anhydrase families located in chloroplasts and cytosol, linking carbon chemistry to organelle function and whole plant physiology.
