Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Cucurbita pepo L. subsp. peop var. styriaca Greb, Nicotiana tabacum cv. samsun
Gamma glutamyl cysteine is a dipeptide intermediate formed by gamma glutamylcysteine synthetase during the first committed step of glutathione biosynthesis in plants. It links the gamma carboxyl group of glutamate to cysteine and is subsequently converted to glutathione by addition of glycine via glutathione synthetase. Levels of gamma glutamyl cysteine reflect cellular capacity for antioxidant defense, redox buffering, and detoxification of reactive oxygen species and xenobiotics. Its synthesis is tightly regulated by sulfur and nitrogen availability, redox status, and feedback from glutathione, and is sensitive to stress conditions such as drought, salinity, and pathogen challenge. Perturbation of gamma glutamyl cysteine formation alters glutathione pools, impacts photosynthesis and metabolic resilience, and influences signaling pathways that coordinate stress responses and growth.
