HIV2 p24 Antibody (MA568529) in ICC/IF
Immunocytochemistry analysis of HIV2 p24 in Mock and transfected 293T cells were fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde at RT for 15 min. Samples were incubated with HIV2 p24 recombinant monoclonal antibody (Product # MA568529) using a dilution of 1:500 (Green). Fluoroshield with DAPI (Blue).

HIV-2 p24 is a viral capsid protein encoded by the gag gene of the HIV-2 virus, which significantly contributes to the structural integrity of the virus. The p24 antigen is a key marker used in the early detection of HIV-2 infection due to its presence in the blood shortly after viral replication begins, often before antibodies are detectable. Detection of the p24 antigen is achieved through sensitive laboratory techniques such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) and rapid diagnostic tests. These assays are essential for diagnosing HIV-2 in symptomatic patients and for screening blood donations to prevent transmission. While HIV-2 is less prevalent and generally has a slower progression than HIV-1, the p24 antigen remains a critical component in understanding and controlling the spread of the virus.
