HLA Class II DQ is a heterodimeric major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecule composed of alpha (DQA1) and beta (DQB1) chains, primarily expressed on professional antigen-presenting cells such as dendritic cells, B cells, and macrophages. It presents extracellularly derived peptide antigens to CD4+ T cells, playing a central role in adaptive immune responses and immune tolerance. Genetic variants of HLA-DQ are strongly associated with several autoimmune diseases, including celiac disease and type 1 diabetes.
