Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
HSP23.5 encodes a small heat shock protein (sHSP) of the HSP20/alpha-crystallin family that is nuclear-encoded but targeted to mitochondria, consistent with an N-terminal mitochondrial transit peptide followed by the conserved C-terminal alpha-crystallin domain typical of sHSP chaperones; in wheat, TaHSP23.5 was cloned from heat-shocked tissue and is predicted to produce a ~214 amino-acid protein whose transcripts are strongly induced by heat stress but are undetectable in unstressed control tissues. As an organelle-localized sHSP, HSP23.5 is thought to function as an ATP-independent "holdase" molecular chaperone that binds stress-denatured or unfolding client proteins to prevent irreversible aggregation, thereby helping preserve mitochondrial proteostasis and supporting cellular tolerance to acute thermal stress and related proteotoxic conditions.
