SCRM (SCREAM), also known as ICE1 (Inducer of CBF Expression 1), is a plant-specific basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor best characterized in Arabidopsis thaliana. It plays key roles in both stomatal development by partnering with other bHLH transcription factors and cold-stress responses by activating CBF (C-repeat binding factor) genes involved in freezing tolerance. SCRM/ICE1 has no direct human ortholog and is considered specific to plants.
