Ig Lambda Light Chain is one of the two classes of immunoglobulin light chains that combine with antibody heavy chains to form functional antibodies involved in immune defense. It is produced by B cells and plasma cells, and its expression is tightly regulated under normal immune conditions. Elevated or abnormal free lambda light chain levels, especially when compared to kappa light chains, are clinically important biomarkers for plasma cell disorders such as multiple myeloma, Waldenström macroglobulinemia, and AL amyloidosis.
