Isoprocarb is a monocyclic carbamate insecticide known for its application in agricultural pest control. It functions by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase, leading to the accumulation of acetylcholine and subsequent disruption of nerve impulses in insects. The gene responsible for its degradation has been identified in Rhodococcus species, where a novel hydrolase, IpcH, initiates the breakdown of isoprocarb, thereby mitigating its environmental impact. Structurally, isoprocarb is characterized by its carbamate group, which is crucial for its insecticidal activity. The molecular imprinting technique has been employed to create surface-molecular imprinted materials using isoprocarb as a template, enhancing its detection and removal from environmental samples.
