Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 100 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
KAT3, also called 3 ketoacyl CoA thiolase 3, is a peroxisomal enzyme in plants that catalyzes the final thiolytic step of fatty acid beta oxidation, cleaving 3 ketoacyl CoA to release acetyl CoA and a shortened acyl CoA. It supports conversion of stored lipids to energy and carbon skeletons during seed germination and early seedling growth, and contributes to degradation of auxin and jasmonate precursors and other lipid derived metabolites. KAT3 functions with acyl CoA oxidases and multifunctional proteins in peroxisomes, and its activity influences energy balance, development, and stress responses. Expression is highest in oil rich tissues and can adjust with hormonal and environmental signals, while loss or reduced function impairs lipid mobilization, delays seedling establishment, and alters hormone homeostasis.
