Kitasamycin is a macrolide antibiotic that is commonly used in veterinary medicine to treat various bacterial infections in livestock such as pigs, poultry, and cattle. It works by inhibiting the protein synthesis of the bacterial cells, thus preventing them from growing and multiplying. Kitasamycin is effective against a wide range of gram-positive bacteria including Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, and Mycoplasma.
